2018 Pantagruel Syrah
The son of our namesake, hedonistic giant gargantua, was pantagruel, and in 2018, 6 vintages after first introducing the gargantua Syrah portfolio, we are ready, and so very excited, to finally introduce our pantagruel to the world. An American AVA Syrah; pantagruel is blended from best our best barrels out of the various West Coast AVAs that make up our single state gargantua wines. Together, they showcase a philosophy, a palate, and a vision of American Syrah that captures fresh juicy flavors with a panoply of spice, garrigue herbs, sweet fruit, and mineral character that tells the world that the best U.S. Syrahs are competing with the top old-world examples of this noble varietal. Pantagruel is drinkable, thought provoking, and is crafted to be on the table on a regular basis and pair well with a variety of foods.

Cloaked in a dark cherry robe, pantagruel 2018 has a sweet aromatic bouquet of cherries, black raspberries, black olive tapenade, savory herbs, Chinese five spice, and dark chocolate. This wine is perfectly balanced with a vibrant freshness and crunch. The wine possesses a suave, medium-bodied delivery, which makes it both quite easy drink and offers the aromatic complexity of a serious, contemplative wine. The flavors unfold with brighter red and black fruits, green herbs, olives, smoked meat, and dark chocolate wrapped in bacon. It is youthful and taught, with a good skeletal structure which is essential to Syrah and is destined to open up within the year and deliver juiciness, quaff-ability, and endless enjoyment. The panoply of flavors and aromas culminate in a finish that is sweet, spicy, and lingers on the palate. Drink Now - 2021+. Alcohol: 13.2%
