Our original estate and our family’s North Star located in the iron-rich volcanic soils of the Dundee Hills. The Bergström Vineyard is 13 acres of south and southeast facing vines bathing in the cool northerly sunlight and overlooking the expansive and rich Willamette Valley stretching south for one hundred miles. Optimum elevation and exposure provides ideal ripening potential for our most powerful, yet elegant expression of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, annually adorned with flowers, fruit, savory herbs and spices, and ferrous minerals. Josh Bergström's Notes
After around five years in the bottle, Pinot Noir from the Bergström Vineyard begins to hit its stride and to exhibit the unique sanguine nature this terroir offers. The 2015 is no exception. With a black cherry robe, the aromas are a complex perfume of beef bouillon, bresaola, dried roses and potpourri, black tea, ripe strawberries, and spiced cherry compote.
The bouquet follows through to the palate with both ripe and restrained expressions: Saline-driven, succulent natural acidity, dried flowers, savory herbs, teas, cigar box, and dark cherry compote flavors. Framing the wine is a ferrous, iron-driven, mineral tannin structure that adds gravitas and earnestness. With each minute in the glass, this wine opens and enchants. Alcohol: 13.7%
