2016 Gregory Ranch 1.5L
Gregory Ranch
Planted 2007 * Yamhill-Carlton AVA * Elevation: 460ft
The Gregory Ranch is a 21-acre vineyard planted on a 100+ acre property in the forested foothills of the coast range in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA. The vineyard is surrounded by old growth Douglast Fir, pine, and large sprawling oak trees. Wild elk and black bear roam the woods, and the forest floor is laced with truffles and mushrooms of all types. Always one of our most robustly earthy and tannic Pinot Noirs.
Winemaker Notes
Updated August 2023
Enormous Burgundian-style wild yeast aromatic hit of sous bois, wild game, exotic spices, and ripe red raspberry, marionberry, and blackberry fruits. Very old-world Pinot Noir in style. The mouth is full of juicy, ripe black raspberry and dark cherry fruit with spice, exotic woods, incense, and wood-smoked meats. This layered and complex wine deserves a mature French cheese plate. Original Notes from Release in 2018
Beautifully colored with a bright dark cherry red. Opens with a noble reduction note of flint and then rare woods, incense, sweet baking spices, dark chocolate, oak spices, and sweet dark red fruits and tart plum. Softer in structure than the 2015 vintage with a sweet core of fruit and some barrel toast but has a juicy core of balancing acidity that makes it quite succulent right now and promises great things for the future.
