Our Homage Pinot Noir is an assemblage of our finest wine barrels from each vintage, beginning in 2008. The Homage label is our heartfelt tribute to all of the friends and mentors, grape farmers and winemakers--both living and departed-- who have helped Bergstrom Wines become what it is today. A portion of the proceeds from our Homage label are donated to ¡Salud!, a collaboration between Oregon winemakers and the Tuality Healthcare Foundation, working to provide access to healthcare services for Oregon vineyard workers and their families.
Josh Bergström's Notes
In the glass, the 2018 Homage Pinot Noir is electric, dark ruby in color. It will need a decanting and 20+ minutes of aeration before enjoying, however, what emerges after this brief period is exquisite. Once it opens up, the 2018 Homage Pinot Noir has a distinctly Old World, or even classic old school Oregon, expression of forest floor, mushrooms, black currant buds, and game. These darker aromas are accented by notes of roasted coffee, sweet baking spices, and salted dark chocolate. The fruit component, with notes of blueberry, black raspberry, and ripe strawberry, provides a wonderful foil before the wine finishes with great, tight acidity and fine, silky, and youthful tannins. This wine has too many years in front of it to adequately judge it now, however, I look forward to revisiting it in 10 years to begin to better understand its promising trajectory. Drink Now – 2032+.
