This wine displays impressive depth and complexity. Inky in color, the 2016 Washington Gargantua opens with savory aromas of white pepper, cacao, roasted red peppers, jalapeño spice, and olive tapenade, alongside enchanting underlying notes of dried lavender. On the palate, it is full-bodied yet elegant, with lively acidity on the finish. Flavors of mushroom, peppered salami, and oregano are complemented by lingering notes of black plum and blueberries. The Syrah has matured beautifully, with its fruit profile evolving into more nuanced, savory qualities. Very smooth and drinking exceptionally well.
