Bergström Vineyard: A Bergström Wines Estate
Planted 1999     *     Dundee Hills AVA     *     Elevation: 380ft

Our original estate and our family’s North Star located in the iron-rich volcanic soils of the Dundee Hills. The Bergström Vineyard is 13 acres of south and southeast facing vines bathing in the cool northerly sunlight and overlooking the expansive and rich Willamette Valley stretching south for one hundred miles. Optimum elevation and exposure provides ideal ripening potential for our most powerful, yet elegant expression of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, annually adorned with flowers, fruit, savory herbs and spices, and ferrous minerals. Learn more about the Bergström Vineyard

Winemaker Notes
*updated January 2023

Ruby red and exuding sweet berry spice, nutmeg, and angostura. Influenced by its volcanic soils, its light ferrous aromatics marry together beautifully with grilled game, cocoa nibs, and dark molasses. The palate is rich with blueberry pie, baker’s chocolate, and earthy olive tapenade. Strong tannins are balanced with mouthwatering acidity.

Notes from Original Release in 2018

The 2016 Bergstrom Vineyard Pinot Noir is a bright and crystalline ruby red in color with violet reflections. This Pinot Noir has fantastic heady aromas of whole cluster fermentation (dried herbs, incense, rare woods, citrus oils, violet pastilles and raspberry candies). It is a dark and juicy wine with a fruit profile classic for this vineyard. The wine is reminiscent of the cherry trees, raspberries and blackberries that have taken over the fence lines. Aromas of scorched red earth, smoked meats, olive, peppers and sun dried tomatoes make me think of pizza and will make you want to smell this wine for an hour before tasting it. The flavors are bright and taught and multi-layered with a fine tannic structure. It has the saline and savory components I look for without compromising the sweet floral and fresh fruit aromas native to this site.

This is a serious wine which should age very well. Although it may be hard to resist, I recommend a brief cellaring period before enjoying.
